A 59-year-old Toronto man was murdered on Sunday, right around midnight. He was found by police following a report of an assault in the area, and was alive at the time. But he later died in the hospital. His identity hasn't been revealed, pending notification of his family. What was truly shocking was the way he died. It's called a "swarming" attack, and this time, it was perpetrated by eight teenage girls. The youngest of them was 13 and the oldest was 16. Police aren't calling the girls a "gang," but there is some gang-related vibe to the whole thing. How did the girls meet, and did they plan on conducting a swarm attack when they first got together? Dan Bishop, a member of the Republican Party in the US House, and his team started working today to examine the funding measure that the US Senate had passed. It is horrifying. The measures made by this authoritarian and dishonest government hurt Americans every day. The bunch of fools in Congress simply voted for it rather than trying to see what was actually in it. Over 4,000 pages and $1.7 trillion in spending make up the Omnibus measure. It also forbids the government from allocating any funds for enhancing border security in the US. (read more)

Shrewd investors resort to dividend equities when times are tough on Wall Street. However, companies that regularly distribute dividends are often profitable and have successfully weathered one or more downturns in the past. Additionally, dividend equities have consistently outperformed non-payers in the return column. According to a 2013 J.P. Morgan Asset Management analysis, companies that started or increased their payouts between 1972 and 2012 experienced an average annual return of 9.5%. For businesses that didn't pay a dividend during the same four decades, the annualized return was a pitiful 1.6%. But not all income stocks are created equally. Regarding the safety of their payouts and the size of their distributions, these are five of the safest high-yield dividend stocks to buy for 2023. (read more)

Bays Family Beef, a farm in Virginia, has a tradition of creating a large statue out of hay each year, and this year they decided to make one of Dolly Parton. The family is referring to it as "Doll-Hay Parton." The massive statue was created with several large hay bales. It even comes complete with a microphone on a stand. They of course spared no detail, as the tribute to Dolly has long blonde hair, colorful makeup, and a bright pink dress. "Once again this became a community project and I'm beyond grateful for all of the helping hands that pitched in to make her so extra. I have the best friends & neighbors in the world," the farm posted on its Facebook page. The farm plans to record a music video for the statue, like it has in the past with other statues it has created. But how exactly was something like the Doll-Hay Parton hay statue put together? And what exactly was used to mimic her famous, ummm, "silhouette?" (read more) |
