Long-Term Health Outcomes in Obstructive Sleep Apnea: A Systematic Review of Comparative Studies Evaluating Positive Airway Pressure and the Validity of Breathing Measures as Surrogate Outcomes
(Technology Assessment, released on December 1, 2022)

This report aims to inform sleep medicine clinicians, sleep technologists, other care providers, sleep apnea researchers, policymakers, and other decision makers about: the definitions of breathing measures used in research and clinical practice; the validity of changes in sleep study and sleepiness measures; and the effect of various treatment modalities on long-term health outcomes based Research Clinical Trials and adjusted nonrandomized comparative studies (with an emphasis on continuous positive airway pressure).

Opportunity to Comment on Draft Report

We encourage the public to participate in the development of our research projects. Comments can be submitted for:

Management of Postpartum Hypertensive Disorders of Pregnancy
(Available for comment until January 10, 2023)

The purpose of this systematic review is to complete a thorough review and synthesis of the literature which is a critical step to improving the early detection and management of postpartum hypertensive disorders of pregnancy and of magnesium sulfate use for peripartum preeclampsia with severe features.

Opportunity to Comment on Draft Key Questions

We encourage the public to participate in the development of our research projects. Comments can be submitted for:

Nonpharmacologic Treatment of Mental Health Conditions in Pregnant and Postpartum People
(Available for comment until December 19, 2022)

Perinatal mental health conditions include depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, bipolar disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder. These conditions affect many people and appear to be increasing. Without appropriate treatment, perinatal mental health conditions can adversely impact not only the individual's own health but also infant outcomes, mother-infant bonding, and children's health over time. AHRQ recently published a systematic review on pharmacologic treatment for mental health conditions in perinatal individuals which found few studies.  Thus, a review of perinatal non-pharmacologic treatments for mental health conditions is urgently needed.

Opportunity to Submit Scientific Information

The Effective Health Care (EHC) Program is interested in receiving supplemental evidence and data (SEADs) for systematic reviews that are relevant to the questions in our evidence reports. To ensure that it has full access to relevant research, whether or not it is published, the EHC Program is interested in receiving SEADs containing detailed study-specific information. Opportunities to submit scientific information are available for:

Measuring Healthcare Organization Characteristics in Cancer Care Delivery Research
(Available for submission until December 26, 2022)

This Technical Brief was commissioned by the National Cancer Institute to (1) catalog organizational characteristics, context and process measures relevant to cancer care delivery research, (2) assess the extent to which measurement has been standardized, (3) evaluate how useful these measures have been, or could be, in cancer care delivery research, and (4) identify areas requiring further research. The results of this report will inform a compendium that can serve as a resource to the cancer care delivery research community. This compendium will complement the existing AHRQ Compendium of U.S. Health Systems by providing information about important healthcare organization characteristics that cannot be obtained from administrative or claims data.

Pharmacologic and Nonpharmacologic Treatments for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder: An Update of the PTSD Repository Evidence Base
(Available for submission until December 27, 2022)

This review will update the literature base and build on the previous AHRQ report and PTSD-Repository by including additional data elements, expanding abstraction of standardized results, and further applying the Revised Cochrane risk-of-bias tool for randomized trials. As part of the update process, corresponding authors of publications included in the prior report will be notified of their study's inclusion in the report, and invited to submit any corrections to the study team. These data will be available through the resulting report and excel files, as well as the PTSD-Repository.

(Section 944 (c) of the Public Health Service Act [42 U.S.C. 299c 3(c)] requires that information collected for research conducted or supported by AHRQ that identifies individuals or establishments be used only for the purpose for which it was supplied unless they consent to the use of the information for another purpose.)
