During a press conference on Thursday, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis commented on the Republican Party's "huge underperformance" in the midterm elections, explaining why his re-election victory was resoundingly successful while the GOP nationally captured only a slim House majority and failed to win the Senate. He noted that historical tendencies favored Republicans and that President Biden's unpopularity and broad feeling that the country is moving in the wrong direction should have resulted in substantial wins for the Republican Party in Congress. The forthcoming release of DeSantis' memoirs has stoked rumors that he intends to run for president, despite the governor's silence on his future plans. (read more) | |
