EU could cap Russian gas prices |
- On Wednesday, the European Union proposed a price cap on Russian gas, hoping to cut the revenue available to President Vladimir Putin for the war in Ukraine as energy prices surge. [Reuters]
- The EU accuses Russia of weaponizing its gas supply in response to Western sanctions. The Kremlin blames the disruption in gas supply on the sanctions and maintenance. [BBC / Paul Kirby]
- Putin threatened to cut off all gas supply to Europe, which remains dependent on Russian energy, if the bloc moved forward with the proposal. [Fortune / Yvonne Lau]
