Because a Democrat just flipped a seat in Alaska. In the special election held to fill the seat of Republican Rep. Don Young's seat after he died in March, Mary Peltola defeated much more widely known Sarah Palin. She'll be the first woman to hold this seat and the first Alaska Native to serve in Congress. Last week, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi declared that banning abortion is "sinful," which is yet another blatant example of her departing from Catholic doctrine. Pelosi has frequently denounced viewpoints she deems to be incorrect in religious terms. But Pelosi's stance on abortion is drastically different than orthodox Christian teachings and the views of the Catholic church specifically. Lisa Muncy of Marion County, Florida is facing charges after punching a store manager in the face. According to police, her charges include a felony burglary with assault or battery. It all started when Muncy was trying to purchase alcohol without an ID. The store clerk refused to sell her the alcohol, which is when Muncy decided to go for plan B. She then walked outside and brought in another woman and tried to get her to purchase the alcohol for her. The clerk still refused the sale. That's when the store manager, who was on her day off, happened to visit the store to purchase something and she noticed the situation. She decided to step in on the clerk's behalf. This is what happened and why it ultimately ended with the manager getting punched in the face. (read more) |

The unnamed 18-year-old woman who accused Matt Araiza and two other San Diego State University players of assaulting her for over an hour at a party last year is now speaking out. The woman claims that her phone was taken away from her during the assault. She added that her piercings were ripped out and that she was left bleeding after the fact. "I was crying, and my friend asked me what happened. And I told her, 'I had just been raped,'" she stated. She told CBS News that she was now faced with a horribly traumatic experience that she never asked for. She says she reported it the day after it happened and that she had no idea who Matt Araiza even was at the time.
