Current Administrative Supplements and an Upcoming Funding Opportunity

The National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH) has published advance notice of an upcoming funding opportunity involving complementary and integrative health institutions. Also, if you have a current NCCIH grant, you may be interested in the current administrative supplements listed below.

Notice of Intent to Publish a Funding Opportunity Announcement for Research Across Complementary and Integrative Health Institutions (REACH) Virtual Resource Centers (U24 Clinical Trial Not Allowed) (NOT-AT-23-001)

NCCIH plans to release a funding opportunity for REsearch Across Complementary and Integrative Health Institutions (REACH) virtual resource centers to foster institutional partnerships and provide resources to support research activities and research training for faculty at partnering U.S. domestic complementary and integrative health clinical institutions, such as schools of acupuncture, chiropractic, osteopathy, naturopathy, physical therapy, and music and art therapy. The purpose of this notice is to allow potential applicants sufficient time to develop meaningful collaborations and develop responsive projects.

The funding opportunity announcement is expected to be published in summer 2022, with an application due date in fall 2022.

Notice of Special Interest (NOSI): Climate Change and Health Administrative Supplements (NOT-TW-22-003)

This funding opportunity will support new activities and partnerships in climate change and health research and research training, including:

  • Supplements to grants that are not currently focused on climate change and health but wish to include climate change and health measures and outcomes within their current scope.
  • Supplements to grants already focused on climate change and health, for example to expand their activities to new populations, modeling activities, exposure measurements, and health outcomes.

Applications are due by July 27, 2022.

Notice of Special Interest (NOSI): Administrative Supplements to Support Research on Preventive Interventions with Populations that Experience Health Disparities (Admin Supp Clinical Trial Optional) (NOT-OD-22-159)

NCCIH is participating in a new National Institutes of Health (NIH) research effort, ADVANCE (Advancing Prevention Research For Health Equity), coordinated by the Office of Disease Prevention. ADVANCE is bringing together NIH Institutes, Centers, and Offices to address the need for more research on leading health risk factors in populations that experience health disparities.

This administrative supplement NOSI is designed to support NIH grantees who can add, enhance, or strengthen preventive intervention research with health disparity populations within the scope of their existing projects. Preventive interventions that address social and structural determinants of health at the interpersonal, organizational, community, and societal levels are strongly encouraged, and so are supplement activities conducted in collaboration with relevant community, service system, or health care partners.

Applications are due by August 1, 2022.

Notice of Special Interest: Administrative Supplements for the U.S.-Japan Brain Research Cooperative Program (BRCP) – U.S. Entity (Admin Supp) (NOT-NS-20-024)

This administrative supplement program provides funds to currently active research grants to promote scientist exchange, training, and collaborations in basic, translational, and clinical research between neuroscientists from the United States and Japan. The following activities can be supported:

  • Visits of U.S. scientists to conduct collaborative research and/or to acquire advanced research skills in Japanese institutions
  • Joint workshops to exchange scientific information and foster collaborations

Applications are due by September 7, 2022.
