House Democrats have cleared a $1.5 trillion spending deal — along with billions in emergency aid for Ukraine — in a victory for President Joe Biden, even as a rank-and-file revolt forced party leaders to strip billions of dollars in pandemic aid from the same bill.
The House also passed a short-term funding measure to keep the government funded past a Friday night deadline. That's meant to give the larger spending package time to pass the Senate, which is unlikely to happen by Friday. See here for full coverage.
