Well, Good Morning!
Let's take a look at what the day has in store for us.
So, let's dig in, shall we?
Here's What You Need To Know... We could soon find out whether the NSA really did spy on Tucker Carlson The National Security Agency's inspector general announced Tuesday that it is investigating allegations that the NSA "improperly targeted the communications of a member of the U.S. news media."
Fox News host Tucker Carlson claimed in June that a whistleblower had informed him NSA was monitoring his electronic communications "in an attempt to take this show off the air." The agency issued a statement at the time saying Carlson "has never been an intelligence target."
Carlson was speaking with U.S.-based Kremlin intermediaries about setting up an interview with Vladimir Putin shortly before he accused the National Security Agency of spying on him, Axios's Jonathan Swan reported last month. You can read his full report here.
New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has resigned over his sexual harassment scandal One week after New York Attorney General Letitia James released a 165-page report concluding that the state's governor had sexually harassed 11 women, and five months after those allegations first became public, and just minutes after his lawyer once again rejected those claims, Andrew Cuomo has stepped down from his post after three terms. The governor, who had refused to resign for months, now faces five criminal probes conducted by various district attorney's offices. He also would have likely faced impeachment had he refused to relinquish the reins.
What was behind the sudden change of heart?
"Given the circumstances, the best way I can help now is if I step aside and let government get back to government," he said yesterday. "And therefore that is what I'll do, because I work for you, and doing the right thing, is doing the right thing for you. In my mind, I have never crossed the line with anyone. But I didn't realize the extent to which the line has been redrawn. Thank you for letting me serve you. It has been the honor of a lifetime."
The news means that the Empire State will have its first-ever woman governor. Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul, 63, is next in the line of succession. She had previously described his actions as "repulsive & unlawful" in a Twitter statement. After news of his resignation, she said: "I agree with Governor Cuomo's decision to step down. It is the right thing to do and in the best interest of New Yorkers. As someone who has served at all levels of government… I am prepared to lead as New York State's 57th Governor."
