Today, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released a Center Informational Bulletin (CIB) that explains the extension of the mandate under the Affordable Care Act (ACA) that state Medicaid programs apply the spousal impoverishment financial eligibility rules in determining eligibility for married individuals in need of Medicaid coverage for home and community-based services.  The ACA's mandate was set to expire on December 18, 2020, but it has been extended multiple times.  And most recently, the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021, extended the ACA's mandate until September 30, 2023.
