Collins on the strong stance he is taking to eliminate structural racism at NIH and throughout the biomedical research enterprise; and calls on the Fogarty community to join the Center's quest for peace, equality and social justice. | | Dr. John Reeder, director of TDR, the Special Programme for Research and Training in Tropical Diseases based at the WHO, discusses his early career, increasing research capacity, and training neglected populations to use the tool of research. | | Fogarty Fellow Dr. Joseph Matovu, a behavioral research scientist, studied HIV self-test kit use in a Ugandan fishing community and found more than 95% of distributed kits were properly used and returned. | | A global One Health approach to disease surveillance and pandemic response should include low-resource settings where people and animals often live in close proximity, scientists said in a recent workshop hosted by the National Academies of Science, Engineering and Medicine. | | The Medical Education Partnership Initiative Junior Faculty Research Training program has enabled African junior faculty to develop research skills and become independent investigators. Fellows supported by the program reported it also helped improve their ability to write successful grant applications and journal articles, and advanced in their careers.
