But first, to help it sink in…  A Tale of Two Trades   This is a story about two stocks and two trades. Neither stock defines me as a trader. But both taught me big lessons.   The first stock is Illinois Superconductor (ISCO) ... In early 2000, Illinois Superconductor announced a revolutionary technology. It promised to greatly expand the range of cell phone towers.  On a Friday morning in late February, Illinois Superconductor issued a press release. It said the company's tech would feature on a news program over the weekend. I knew there was an informational inefficiency and that the stock could run on Monday.   So I took what, for me, was a pretty big position over the weekend.  Monday morning, after drama trying to exit positions at two different brokers, I sold for a $123,000 profit. It was my first six-figure win. And it happened while I was still in college.  That trade was a rush. It was fun. It burned into my brain the potential of trading.  Now for the second stock…  In 2004, I loaned money to a company I thought would be the next Ticketmaster. The company was Cygnus E-Transactions (CYGT, formerly Cygnus Entertainment).  Later that same year, my hedge fund made a pre-IPO investment in Cygnus. I knew I couldn't sell the restricted shares for 18 months after the IPO, but that was fine.  I believed in the company and its cool home-ticketing tech so much that…  My hedge fund loaned another $250,000 to the company. I personally invested a further $90,000 in restricted shares. And then another $75,000 when the company was running out of money.  That's how sure I was that it would make me millions.  To make a long story short, it turned out to be the biggest loss of my life. The stock was so illiquid that I couldn't get out. You can read about the experience, and everything it taught me, in my book, "An American Hedge Fund."  So what does this have to do with taking it trade by trade? "The BIGGEST Stocks in America…" Like any trader, I try to buy low and sell high..  But there's something I do DIFFERENTLY than others... I try to find ONE type of stock that can spike +50% to +300% or more the same day. The ones that can make a BIG difference for work at home traders.  The cool part - they're popping up almost daily lately… click here to see my "recipe" for finding these "big movers" every week. If I'd allowed the big ISCO win to go to my head, I wouldn't have been able to adapt.  When the market started to shift later that year, I did go through a rough period. But because I had the sense to NOT let my previous success get in the way, I was able to take a step back. I was able to re-evaluate and learn new strategies.  My experience with CYGT taught me another big lesson: don't believe the hype. Expect the worst out of every penny stock company and you won't be disappointed.  Take it trade by trade.
