HOMECOMING SMILE  Flanked by security escorts from the National Bureau of Investigation and the Bureau of Immigration who flew to Jakarta to fetch her, dismissed town Mayor Alice Guo (center) hardly looks like an arrested fugitive in this photo released by the NBI before her flight to Manila on Thursday.

Hi there. Guo says she's facing death threats, seeks government help

"Sec, patulong. May death threats po kasi ako." That's what fugitive former mayor Alice Guo, now in the custody of Philippine authorities, told Interior Secretary Benjamin Abalos Jr. when they met and shook hands inside an Indonesian police office in Jakarta.

The PNP notched a victory in its hunt against fugitive televangelist Apollo Quiboloy when the Court of Appeals in Cagayan de Oro City declared as "null and void" the temporary protection order a Davao court had earlier granted members of Quiboloy's sect.

For neglect of duty, specifically the Energy Regulatory Commission's alleged failure "to recalculate the rate of Meralco that protects the interest of the public," the Ombudsman has ordered the six-month preventive suspension of ERC Chair Monalisa Dimalanta.

From X to R-16: A documentary on the disappearance of activist Jonas Burgos, who was believed killed by the military in 2007, may now be shown in theaters following a second review by the MTRCB that reclassified the movie from the dreaded X rating to R-16.

Another mass campus shooting has ripped through an American community, this time in Winder, Georgia where a 14-year-old boy killed two fellow students and two teachers and wounded nine others in a rampage at a local high school on Wednesday.
