CMS Approves Nevada's New Section 1115 Demonstration to Provide Dental Benefits for Adults with Diabetes Enrolled in Medicaid

Today, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) approved a new five-year section demonstration, "Whole Mouth Whole Body Connection for Adults with Diabetes." Through this demonstration, Nevada will have the authority to offer a limited dental benefit to non-pregnant diabetic adults (21 through 64 years of age), enrolled in Medicaid, through a network of Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC) and participating Tribal Health Centers with dental clinics in the state. The limited dental benefit package will include diagnostic and preventative, restorative, endodontic, and periodontic dental services. This demonstration has an effective approval period from July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2029.
