It's National Women's Health Week. Did you know that research has been done on a variety of complementary health approaches for health conditions of concern to women?

  • Some psychological and physical complementary approaches, such as yoga, tai chi, hypnosis, and acupuncture, may be helpful for symptoms associated with menopause.
  • There's evidence that cranberry might be helpful in reducing the risk of urinary tract infections (UTIs) in women who have had a previous UTI. However, cranberry has not been shown to be effective as a treatment for an existing UTI.
  • Dietary supplements containing soy isoflavone mixtures probably have a beneficial effect on bone health in postmenopausal women, but the evidence is not entirely consistent.
