Republican presidential contender and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has renewed his appeal for Disney to drop its lawsuit against him and other state officials in his ongoing battle with the entertainment conglomerate, warning the firm that it is "going to lose." During a CNBC interview, DeSantis was asked what he would say to Disney CEO Bob Iger if the governor called to discuss what has become a very public rivalry that began under former Disney CEO Bob Chapek. DeSantis then praised his state's low unemployment rate and business-friendly environment, implying that Disney might thrive without the self-governing ability it is trying to regain.
The conflict between Disney and DeSantis began last year, when Disney publicly opposed Florida's Parental Rights in Education Act.

After being charged for the second time in relation to his efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election, former president Donald Trump dispelled all hopes that he would depart peacefully. The main Republican contender for president in the 2024 election claimed that he and 18 other people had been charged "by an out-of-control and very corrupt District Attorney." Trump is accused of breaking the Georgia RICO Act—the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act - along with 10 other counts in the latest indictment, which is the fourth to be brought against him this year. Legal expert Jonathan Turley gave the Georgia indictment his initial judgment, noting that it goes much further than the contentious phone call Trump placed with Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger on January 2, 2021. Crashing a vehicle through a house is bizarre enough, but when the car ends up in the second story of the home, it's about as unusual as you can get. And that was the case recently in Pennsylvania - a driver somehow managed to crash through the second story of a home. The car went through the house and became lodged in a second-floor room, but the trunk area and rear tires dangled from the roof. Firefighters and first responders arrived on the scene within minutes, and thankfully no one in the house was hurt in the accident. The driver was transported to the hospital and their condition is unknown. Photos from the scene show the aftermath of the bizarre incident, but how did the car wind up in the second story of the house anyway? (read more) |
