| NINR Extramural Program: News, Updates, and Opportunities | | This monthly newsletter for NINR applicants and awardees provides useful information about funding initiatives and other opportunities. | Funding Opportunities The NIH Guide recently published the following Notices of Funding Opportunities (NOFOs) Continuing Funding Opportunities - PAR-23-144: STrengthening Research Opportunities for NIH Grants (STRONG): Structured Institutional Needs Assessment and Action Plan Development for Resource Limited Institutions (RLIs) (UC2 - Clinical Trial Not Allowed) will support research capacity needs assessments by eligible Resource-Limited Institutions (RLIs). The program will also support the recipient institutions to use the results of the assessments to develop action plans for how to meet the identified needs. First Application Due Date: September 18, 2023
- NOT-AG-23-015: Notice of Special Interest (NOSI): Alzheimer's-Focused Administrative Supplements for NIH Grants that are Not Focused on Alzheimer's Disease invites applications to expand existing awards that are not currently focused on Alzheimer's disease (AD) and its related dementias (ADRD) (e.g., frontotemporal dementia, Lewy body dementia, Vascular Contributions to Cognitive Impairment and Dementia (VCID), and multiple etiology dementias) to allow the research to develop such a focus. Active awards with project end dates in FY 2025 or later are eligible. Application Due Date: October 2, 2023

Dawes, JD, Senior Vice President of Global Health Equity and the Executive Director of the Institute of Global Health Equity at Meharry Medical College, will join the National Institute of Nursing Research (NINR) with co-hosts the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD) and the NIH Office of Behavioral and Social Sciences Research (OBSSR) to share his expertise as a scholar, educator, and researcher on health equity and social and political determinants of health.
