View it as a Web page.   Subscribe How monthly clinics bring primary health care services closer to communities in Malawi Fredrik Lerneryd for USAID In Malawi, access to critical health services like routine immunization and nutrition screening is often limited for families living in rural areas.  USAID partnered with local health workers in Malawi to bring care closer to families and mothers like new mom, Elinat Robert, who now lives just five kilometers away from the nearest monthly health clinic where she brings her newborn to receive life-saving vaccines and screening for common childhood illnesses.  "I am here because I am following what the health officers encourage us to do," said Elinat. "For instance, I am here today at the monthly under-five clinic for my baby's vaccination." Annually, about 265,000 children under-five are vaccinated by health surveillance assistants in USAID-supported districts in Malawi.
