President Biden's student debt relief plan that would have given up to $20,000 in loan forgiveness to borrowers was overturned by House Republicans on Wednesday in a a 218-203 vote. "The actions of the Biden administration alone have cost more than the federal government has spent on higher education over its entire pre-pandemic history, $744 billion from 1962 to 2019," said Rep. Erin Houchin. Here's which Democrats joined Republicans to support the move and what we can expect to happen next. (read more) |

The Biden administration is handing out taxpayer money to a university program that has compared the Republican party and Christians to Nazis. According to reports, the funds are through an anti-terrorism grant. A conservative watchdog group, the Media Research Center, obtained documents that shed light on the university program and how it views Republicans and Christians, as well as how the grant is being used to target conservatives. "This terrorism task force is engaged in an active effort to demonize and eliminate Christian, conservative, and Republican organizations using federal taxpayer dollars," said Brent Bozell, founder and president of the Media Research Center. Here's what else we know about the situation. (read more) |

In just the past several weeks, a number of strange events have begun to play out in the world…
- US gas prices are at a record high, and are likely to stay there for a long time...
- Saudi Arabia is now considering accepting yuan instead of dollars in oil sales with China...
- Ukrainian President Zelensky says: "I'm ready for negotiations with Putin, but if they fail... it could mean a third World War"...
- Inflation reached 7.9% in February, and consumer prices are now the highest they've been in 40 years...
- To make matters worse, a plains drought will hinder America's wheat harvest, adding to global supply worries.

After being on the receiving end of a barrage of attacks from former President Trump and his supporters for more than six months, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis looks to be engaging in some type of retaliation now that he is running alongside Trump for the nomination of the Republican Party to the presidency in 2024. Several hours after formally announcing his candidacy for president in a campaign launch video, Ron DeSantis was asked about the constant barrage of incoming fire he is taking from Donald Trump when he called in on Thursday morning to popular talk radio programs in the early voting Republican nominating states of Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina. These states all hold early voting for the Republican nomination. (read more) | |

After a sour day in Washington and on Wall Street, CNBC's Jim Cramer warned investors that lawmakers will inevitably cost them money as debt ceiling negotiations drag on. "Get ready for our politicians to lose you some more money," Cramer said, referencing the earlier impasse surrounding the debt ceiling in 2011. "They hurt you then. They aren't done hurting you now. But unless you trade full-time, it's tough to get out and get back in early enough to make a difference, which means most of us need to take the pain." Cramer considered the merits of selling stocks before the potential market swoon but worried that many would be unable to repurchase them fast enough to see real gains. (read more) |

A Florida man had a recent encounter in his own home that made him feel like he was living in a real life version of Jurassic Park. The man walked into one of his bathrooms in his home one day to find an angry, hissing iguana in his toilet. And it wasn't one of the friendly green iguanas that are often seen around Florida. This iguana was a Mexican spiny-tailed version, which is usually black in color, extremely scaly, and has a small dinosaur-like appearance. But how did the iguana get in the home in the first place? With the better question being: were they able to get the iguana out? (read more) |

New charges were announced for disbarred South Carolina lawyer Alex Murdaugh on Wednesday for defrauding people of nearly $9 million. The charges range from breach of trust to forgery, money laundering and tax evasion. This development comes in addition to the 20 indictments containing 101 charges that were issued by the state of South Carolina. "Alex has been cooperating with the United States Attorneys' Office and federal agencies in their investigation of a broad range of activities. We anticipate that the charges brought today will be quickly resolved without a trial," said Murdaugh's lawyers. (read more) |
