Please Join Us To Offer Your Feedback: Addressing Racial and Ethnic Healthcare Disparities Related to Algorithms

Date: May 15, 2023

Time: Noon–2 p.m. ET

The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) and the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD) are hosting a meeting May 15 to seek feedback on draft guiding principles to prevent or mitigate bias related to healthcare algorithms that affect racial and ethnic disparities in healthcare.

Healthcare algorithms, often based on statistical or mathematical models including machine learning, can offer value in diagnostics and treatments. At the same time, algorithms can create and perpetuate inequities in healthcare. To address this issue, AHRQ and NIMHD hosted a 2-day meeting in March to present a draft of an AHRQ Evidence Report examining the published studies on this topic and learn from the field about the state of the science and current perspectives. The March meeting informed the development of a set of guiding principles by a diverse expert panel on preventing or mitigating bias related to healthcare algorithms that affect racial and ethnic disparities in healthcare.

Join us online May 15 to hear a presentation of these draft principles and provide your thoughts and feedback.

Mark your calendar and join us. Don't miss out on this chance to provide feedback.
