Defense sources reported on Thursday that the U.S. is following a rumored Chinese high-altitude surveillance balloon above the continental United States. This development could further strain already strained relations between the U.S. and China. The U.S. government has tracked the balloon for several days as it traveled over the northern United States, according to Brig. Gen. Patrick Ryder, a spokesman for the Pentagon. He added that the balloon was "traveling at an altitude well above commercial air traffic and does not present a military or physical threat to people on the ground." President Biden has been briefed and given a "strong recommendation" that the balloon not be shot down, a senior administration official confirmed. (learn more) |

A Michigan man is kicking himself after he let his six-year-old son play on his phone. The boy was reportedly playing on his father's phone Saturday night without any apps or shopping access being locked down. When it was time for the boy to go to bed, the dad took his phone back. Once the boy was asleep in bed, what he did on the phone became very apparent when GrubHub drivers began showing up at the residence with random food orders. An unidentified 66-year-old woman had a rather unfortunate day after she was declared dead in an Iowa care facility and was later found gasping for air in a body bag. The woman had been a resident at the Glen Oaks Alzheimer's Special Care Center since December, 2021. She was moved into hospice care on December 28, 2022, due to "senile degeneration of the brain." The unidentified resident was pronounced dead on January 3, 2023, after an employee of the facility said she did not feel a pulse.
