| Julia C. Guth Chair of the Board The Roberto Clemente Health Clinic | In 2004, The Oxford Club connected with a wonderful community in the second-poorest country in the Western Hemisphere - Nicaragua. We helped create a private health clinic and wellness center, The Roberto Clemente Health Clinic. In this storm- and drought-ravaged region, hardworking farmers and fishermen live peacefully. But the country is impoverished. Most Nicaraguan families live on less than $2 a day, in mud-floor one- to two-room shacks, with storm-ravaged outdoor cooking areas. These dwellings often have contaminated wells and no modern septic system. The Roberto Clemente Health Clinic has become an emergency clinic and wellness center for the entire region. It serves thousands of families each year. The locals rely on it for their healthcare, even though it's not part of any hospital or public healthcare system. It's a small, donor-supported nonprofit. Even families who live in the hills many miles away look to the Clinic. There are few other options for accessing modern healthcare services. And whenever anyone is in critical condition, the Clinic goes to them with its off-road ambulance... one of the only ambulances in all of southwestern Nicaragua. For a relatively small facility - it's operated by a team of 27 professionals on a very small budget - the Clinic makes a huge impact on the community. It offers primary care and emergency services, 24/7 medical attention, clean water, and nutritional and educational support. Without a doubt, connecting with this Clinic and helping to save and improve lives in Nicaragua is the most rewarding investment I have ever made. In recent years, our Clinic team members have become even more resourceful than they already were. Frankly, they've had to. The economic downturn in Nicaragua has no end in sight. Resources are drying up everywhere... charitable giving has declined... supplies are not getting through customs... and record rainstorms and flooding are exacerbating the country's need for clean water, secure shelter, nutritious food and modern medicine. I have been moved by our Clinic's strength - its teamwork, positive spirit and determination. Even though many of their own families are struggling with layoffs and limited resources, our staff members continue to work hard every day to provide vital services to the community. The Clinic is 100% donor-supported. And right now, the Clinic needs your help to maintain its critical medical and pharmaceutical services for the region and to stay open 24/7. Here's how far your donation can go... - With $50 a month for an entire year, you could provide one student with all of their school supplies plus an entire year of healthcare protection, including a bimonthly visit to our Clinic, medicine as needed, nutritional assistance with vitamins and supplements, and vaccines.
- With $100 a month, you could help 10 people with diabetes join our Diabetes Club and make sure they receive the education, nutritional guidance and follow-up treatment they urgently need to live a healthier life.
- With $250 a month, you could provide 20 families with access to clean drinking water, which prevents severe issues commonly caused by contaminated water, such as diarrhea, birth defects, cancer, typhoid fever and cholera.
- With $500 a month, you could help 10 families start organic gardens in their own backyards - providing the necessary supplies and seeds, as well as some valuable training in basic gardening, soil enhancement, nutrition and natural pest control.
By supporting the Roberto Clemente Health Clinic and its general health and wellness programs, you'll support the ambitions of the local people and help them get stronger. It's imperative we keep the Clinic flourishing because... - We keep locals in jobs.
- We provide education and job training.
- We provide food, medicine, emergency healthcare and clean water.
- We help parents get their kids to school with backpacks, supplies and proper uniforms.
Please consider joining me in supporting The Roberto Clemente Health Clinic. Any amount you give will help the Clinic survive and thrive for the community. Your donation will go a very long way, as you'll see when you click on this link or the donation button below. And the best part is that donations made between now and December 31, 2022, will be matched by The Oxford Club (up to a total of $50,000). That means your investment will have twice the impact. On behalf of our Clinic team, thank you. Supporting The Roberto Clemente Health Clinic could be one of the most rewarding investments you ever make. It has been for me. Thank you, Julia C.
