Tuesday's massive fire at an Ohio British Petroleum facility hurt two workers. Social media posts on the Husky Toledo Refinery in Oregon showed massive flames and a column of black smoke. On Tuesday evening, a BP Spokeswoman shared that two people were injured in the fire. All other employees had been located, and the facility had been shut down as firefighters battled the incident. The fire was described as active at the time of the news release. BP describes the plant as a "cornerstone" of the regional economy that can produce 160,000 barrels of crude oil daily — or about 3.8 million gallons of gas. This is a developing story; please check back for updates. (read more) |

You and I already know that Biden is a gaffe machine. Pretty much everything he says could be ultimately be interpreted as a joke, or at least turned into one with little effort. So, when Tim Allen took to Twitter to make fun of what Biden had to say in his "60-Minutes" interview, it was just low-hanging fruit. But he's catching a lot of heat for it. Take a look at the kid-friendly joke he shared and tell me if you think if his critics are making a mountain out of a mole hill. (read more) |

According to a recent poll conducted in Wisconsin, threats to democracy have risen to the top of Democratic voters' midterm concerns. Threats to the nation's democracy were either the first or second pick for 40% of probable Democratic voters in Wisconsin, according to a Spectrum News/Sienna College poll of likely voters. As a result of President Biden's statement that "MAGA Republicans" are "threats to the democracy," the subject has come up in a number of recent polls. As we approach the midterm elections, 39% of Democrats ranked abortion as an important issue, while 16% also ranked it as their most important issue. Inflation doesn't just appear overnight and won't just go in a month or two. In light of this, investors would choose to move some funds into equities that offer dividend income and keep their value throughout an inflationary era. Nevertheless, certain companies are better protected against economic downturns and more likely to survive an inflationary environment. Here are three such companies. All three offer stockholders consistent and rising dividends, offering some protection for the current economy. (read more) |

Sherri Papini, a California mother of two, faked her own kidnapping back in 2016. This week, she learned her sentence for the crime. Papini's stunt led to a multi-state search that lasted three weeks before she finally resurfaced on Thanksgiving Day. Once she resurfaced, investigators quickly realized she staged the entire thing. Papini even lied to the FBI about the ordeal when they accused her of making everything up. She was ultimately sentenced to 18 months in prison and ordered to pay more than $300,000 in restitution as part of a plea bargain. The prison sentence was far greater than the eight months prosecutors were seeking, but the judge wanted to deter others from doing the same by handing down a strict sentence. But perhaps the most bizarre part of this entire case is the reason why Papini faked her own abduction and disappeared for three weeks. (read more) |

| Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis faced some backlash after recently sending two planes of migrants to Martha's Vineyard, but that hasn't stopped him from relocating more migrants to Joe Biden's vacation home in Delaware. White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre revealed during a Tuesday briefing that they had "received word of the flights." She went on to say they were coordinating with state officials who were prepared to welcome the families in an orderly manner. Here's what Ron DeSantis has to say about it all and what he claims happened to the migrants after they were sent to Martha's Vineyard. (read more) |
