If you look hard enough, you could probably find at least one whistleblower in any organization across the nation if you needed one. Maybe even two. But the shocking number of whistleblowing FBI agents who have reached out to Rep. Jim Jordan following the raid on Mar-a-Lago seems to be too many to fall within the typical realm of statistical norms. "There are lots of good people in the FBI. It's the top that's the problem, but some of these good agents are coming to us, telling us this is baloney what's going on. The political nature now of the Justice Department. God bless them for doing it, coming talking to us about the school board issue, about a whole host of issues," the congressman said. So how many have reached out to him thus far? And how many more will now that this story is breaking? (read more) |

The search warrant that U.S. Magistrate Judge Bruce Reinhart and Attorney General Merrick Garland approved was made public following the raid on former President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago home. However, the affidavit that would have shown probable cause and so indicated the grounds for believing the warrant to be legitimate was kept confidential. The DOJ is seeking to keep the affidavit sealed despite demands from Congress and the media because it believes it will jeopardize the ongoing investigation. (read more) |

It might not seem like the best moment to purchase gold equities right now, given the strength of the U.S. dollar. It looks like the Federal Reserve will keep raising interest rates to fight inflation. The U.S. Dollar Index, already at multi-year highs, could rise much further due to additional rate increases. The Fed's interest rate increase has already had an impact on gold prices as well as those of other dollar-hedging assets. Since rate increases started in March, spot gold prices have dropped from almost $2,000 per ounce to just under $1,800 per ounce. Still, that doesn't mean you should avoid having any exposure to gold in your portfolio. It's wise to have some exposure, as a hedge. It's possible that the current combination of monetary tightening and a slowdown in the economy could lead to stagflation. Stagflation is terrible news for stocks but good news for gold prices. Adding these gold stocks to your portfolio can be a great stagflation hedge. (read more) |

| Antoine Sims, 24, called the police after getting into an argument with a McDonald's employee over some cold fries. When officers arrived, they learned that he had an outstanding warrant. He fled, was ultimately tased, and was then taken into custody. Sims' warrant was for failing to appear in court after he was released from jail in February. He had been incarcerated since 2019 before being granted a $275,000 bond, according to court records. He is one of three suspects in a 2018 murder in an alleged drug deal gone wrong. Sims and his fiancée went to a McDonald's last week in Kennesaw, Georgia. The couple was unaware that their food was ready because of a malfunction with the receipt printer. That's when the dispute over the cold fries took place and police were called. (read more) |

Sixteen-year-old Kiely Rodni has been missing for more than a week now after she was last seen at a party near Prosser Family Campground in Truckee early on August 6. Authorities have now revealed that her cell phone last pinged near a lake and that she was wearing a pink and white "Odd Future" sweatshirt the night she went missing. Authorities say Rodni had borrowed another hoodie at the party that had the Lana Del Ray lyrics "You don't want to be forgotten, you just want to disappear" written on it. The lake that her cell phone last pinged near was a man-made reservoir that surrounds the campground. "The ping for the data points was near the water. It's hard to tell an exact pinpoint," Capt. Sam Brown said before saying that it doesn't necessarily mean that's where the phone stopped pinging. "There's lots of reasons why those notifications or data points could be lost." Here's what investigators are still searching for, and what they've found at the site of interest so far. (read more) |
