As Republicans rally around the former president, some are wondering, "Did Trump bait the FBI?" If so, it was pretty genius. Because it was one heck of a way to spin what could have creamed his political goals. Because as of right now, Team Trump is going strong. And it's not just Republicans who are coming to his defense. Take a look at what the president of El Salvador had to say about how weaponized our politics are getting. It looks like they've found themselves in a classic "damned if you do, damned if you don't" kind of situation. Have they overplayed their hand for the last time? (read more) |

The Department of Justice apparently had an odd list of things they wanted when the FBI raided Donald Trump's private residence at his Mar-a-Lago club in Florida. According to reports, armed agents raided Mar-a-Lago in search of a cocktail napkin, letters, documents, maps, memos, and a birthday dinner menu. Of course, the agents probably kept their eyes open for anything else they could use against Trump as they shuffled through his belongings. Surprisingly, even some left-leaning legal experts are calling out the FBI for the random raid. But the damage is already done. (read more) |

The excellent jobs data for July may be a net plus, symbolizing the whims of the new normal. However, the data also supports the primary argument for why you should think about investing in secure blue-chip firms. True, nearly any other situation would find it positive if the economy generated many more opportunities than analysts had predicted. However, the positive news only serves as justification for the Federal Reserve to continue tightening monetary policy during the post-pandemic period. Higher salaries come together with a strong labor force, and higher earnings lead to more money chasing after dwindling numbers of items. Therefore, it stands to reason that the employment situation could raise already high prices further if the Fed takes no action. The central bank must thus lower the fever without harming the patient. But since that is easier said than done, investors have another reason to purchase secure blue-chip stocks. None of these stocks will entice investors to get up like hot growth names can at the crack of dawn. But, nevertheless, when investors don't know where they're going, these safe blue-chip stocks provide them with a true, reliable compass. (read more) | |

A beluga whale in France was recently found trapped in the Seine River. It is believed the whale was on its way to the arctic when it veered off its usual path and ended up in the river last week. Rescuers tried to feed the whale fish during its time in the river, but it refused to eat. Officials began to grow increasingly worried the whale would not survive much longer in fresh water and without eating properly. A daring rescue attempt was then made to move the whale from the river to the Normandy coast, but that attempt unfortunately had a tragic ending. Here's what happened. (read more) |

The Langya henipavirus in China has sickened nearly 3 dozen people and scientists say it's too early to tell if it can spread among humans or whether or not it's deadly. The Langya henipavirus, or LayV, belongs to a family of viruses that are "known to infect humans and cause fatal disease." As of now, it appears to be jumping from animals. So far, none of the 35 confirmed cases have been deadly. A study revealed there was no close contact or common exposure history among the patients, which suggests the infection could be sporadic. Here's what symptoms have been associated with the new virus. (read more) |
