Actress Mary Mara is famous for her roles in shows like ER and Law & Order. But today, sadly, she is making headlines for a much darker reason. Her representative confirmed that she died Sunday, June 26, while swimming in the St. Lawrence River in New York. The actress was only 61. The rep added: "Mary was one of the finest actresses I ever met. She had a terrific sense of humor and a unique outlook on life. I still remember the first time that I saw her onstage in Mad Forest in 92. She was utterly captivating, well loved, and will be missed." Here's what we know about this tragedy so far. (read more) |

On today's CBS Mornings, failed Democrat candidate Hillary Clinton took some time out of her not-so-busy day to launch a very personal attack on Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas. As you'll soon see, she's devastated by his opinion that helped overturn Roe v. Wade last week. You see, they both graduated with law degrees from Yale. Clinton in 1973, Clarence Thomas the following year in 1974. Take a look at how she rapidly turns to racist stereotypes as she describes him as, "He's been a person of grievance for as long as I have known him. Resentment. Grievance. Anger…" How far does she take it? (read more) |

Investors and consumers continue to face several challenging financial and economic issues, whether or not the US economy enters an official recession. Consider inflation. Prices increased 8.6% from a year ago in May, which is the quickest rate in 40 years. A new sports car is turning heads, but not just because of the way it looks. The British McMurtry Spéirling is an electric sports car that some have dubbed the baby Batmobile. And while it does look like a junior version of the popular Batman vehicle, it's impressing car enthusiasts for more than that. At the recent Goodwood Festival of Speed, the car set a new track record after it completed a hill climb in an astounding 39.08 seconds. The car can also go from 0-60 in just 1.5 seconds. But how is the electric car so quick? As it turns out, it uses air for speed. Here's how that works. (read more) |

Twenty-three-year-old Jace Christian Williams was sentenced to more than four years in federal prison and must also serve three years of supervised release following his time in prison after he attacked a student in Oklahoma in 2017. The reason for the attack was that Williams blamed the student for interfering with his sex life. The student was left paralyzed. "Williams went as far as to tell one student that he would to make sure the victim couldn't 'use his arms or legs for five months,'" authorities said. Williams and his victim had both shown up on November 3, 2017, to watch an unrelated fight between two other individuals. That was when Williams suddenly attacked the student from behind, slamming him head first into the ground. He then proceeded to punch the victim repeatedly in the back. According to court records, the two men were once "best friends." Here's what defense attorney John M. Dunn said transpired between the two of them that led up to the attack. (read more) |
