A small group of students at Frisco Memorial High School got approval from the school district to participate in a prank involving a small number of students and a massive number of Post-it notes. But the prank that was approved was NOT the prank that got pulled off. Things quickly got out of hand and led to thousands of dollars worth of damages. Damages the students are now on the hook for paying for. (read more)

I'll give you a hint: it's not California. But there is one state that's preparing. While several gas stations in the region have already run out of gas, they figure what better time than now to use the downtime to start getting those pumps ready for $10.00+/gallon prices. While they're saying this doesn't mean that they're actually predicting that prices will get that high, I'm sure you and I are more than capable of reading between the lines. (read more)

According to an Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Research survey released last month, President Joe Biden's popularity rating dropped last month as Democratic supporters turned against him ahead of this year's midterm elections. Biden's poll numbers have dropped to 39% since April, the lowest level the Associated Press has seen since he took office. The results of other pollsters are comparable. Only 2 out of 10 Americans believe the United States is on the right track. Only 33% of Democrats believe the country is on the right track, down 16 percentage points since April. Biden's Democratic popularity rating has dropped from 82% last year to 73% this month. Can things get any worse for ol' Sleepy Joe? (read more)

The latest stock market decline has been excruciating. The S&P 500b is approaching bear market territory, having fallen almost 20% from its last peak. Meanwhile, the NASDAQ Composite, which is heavily weighted in technology, has fallen by more than 30%. As a result, there's a lot of concern that if inflation-driven interest rate hikes force the economy into a recession, even more negative effects will follow. Given the present market environment, many investors are looking for ways to diversify their portfolios by adding additional long-term investments. Here are three dependable businesses to consider. Tiger Woods is making headlines this week for all the wrong reasons. The golf superstar was caught lashing out at a cameraman as Woods walked the fairway on the back nine during the PGA championship. After teeing off on his first hole, Woods decided to address a cameraman directly who was following him to get a shot. "Mind giving me some breathing space, please," Woods asked the cameraman. Woods was then heard addressing the cameraman yet again, but this time in a not so kind manner. "Back off and give me some breathing space," he stated. Just how close was the cameraman? Did it warrant being called out by Woods? Check out the video and you decide. (read more)

A mystery that has long puzzled scientists about why octopuses torture and eat themselves after mating may have finally been solved. For a while, we have known that mother octopuses torture and sometimes even eat themselves when their eggs are close to hatching. A new study now reveals that this could be due to chemical changes that occur around the time she lays the eggs. The octopus's glands produce steroid hormones and when the mother lays her eggs, those hormones go into overdrive. It is these steroids that scientists think push the octopuses to torture themselves. The exact reasoning that this occurs though, or why an octopus is designed this way, is still unknown. (read more)
