If history is any guide, we're about to enter some rocky waters...

This is generally the time of year when the market tumbles, and with a Fed meeting this week, there's plenty of intrigue and speculation.

That's why it's important to have a safe harbor and see this as a time of opportunity, not danger.

Don't miss Chris Hood's new installment of "Hood Talk." He's got some great practical tips that you can do right now to set yourself up for some major league wins during the holiday season.

Also, Dr. Kent Moors, one of the world's leading energy experts, has a can't-miss Classified Intelligence Brief about rising natural gas prices, and the huge impact this going to have on global markets.

Get ready. Others may cower in fear...

But we're going to hit the ground running.

Keep moving,
Historically, we're entering the most tricky part of the trading year. Yet it's precisely this time where you can set up some trades for amazing profits.

Listen in as Chris discusses how to use these volatile weeks to cash in when the seasonal "Christmas Rally" arrives.

  • Critics: Apple, Google, Facebook "Choke Point" For Free Speech - Bowing to the demands of the Russian government, Apple and Google removed the "Navalny" app from online stores. This made it far more difficult for Russians opposed to President Vladimir Putin's rule to use "strategic voting" to weaken his party. Critics say these and other cases show that governments are using Big Tech to crush dissent, essentially making American companies collaborators in repression.

  • Amazon Puts Sponsored Ads At Top Of Search Results - If you want something fast, you go to Amazon (AMZN). America's online store is now fully exploiting its power by putting "sponsored" products at the top of search results. In other words, whether you're looking for tools or toothpaste, the first thing you see may be a de facto ad, not necessarily what you were looking for. Tactics like this are helping Amazon increase its revenue to more than $7.9 billion in the last quarter.
  • Investors Pour Into Stocks Before Fed Meeting - It was a rough week for the stock market, but you wouldn't know it by looking at bank transfers. Bank of America reported that more than $50 billion went from cash accounts into equities last week and a record $28.3 billion went into American large-cap stock funds. The moves came in advance of the Federal Reserve's meeting this week and investors are expecting the Fed to keep policies that fuel investment in stocks. On an unrelated note, the Federal Reserve is currently investigating itself because leading officials made major transactions in stocks during the pandemic.

  • Disney Sued By 25,000 Employees - Something is rotten in the Magic Kingdom. About 25,000 Disney employees have filed a class action lawsuit against Disney (DIS), arguing that the company is failing to pay a "living wage." The case will center on whether a garage paid for by the city of Anaheim but used by Disney counts as a "city subsidy." If it does, Disney may be forced to pay workers at least $18/hour by 2022. However, both Disney and the city itself say the complicated legal structure surrounding the garage does not count as a subsidy. If a judge disagrees, Big Mouse will have to pay up.

HOT SPOTS: What's Going on in Geopolitics

  • Australia: No Regrets For Dumping France - Prime Minister Scott Morrison defended the decision to reject a deal to buy nuclear submarines from France and instead align with the USA and the UK. "I don't regret the decision to put Australia's national interest first," he told Reuters. However, French officials clearly are not moving on, with French Defense Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian blasting the "duplicity, disdain, and lies" shown by Australia, the UK, and the USA.

  • All Tied Up For Canadian Election - Canadians will go to the polls on Monday, but no one knows what to expect. Opinion surveys show a statistical tie for Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's Liberal Party and the opposition Conservatives. Polls show that though Canadians are divided about who they are going to vote for, there's overwhelming agreement that the campaign was more divisive and confrontational than other elections.

  • Volcano In Iceland Still Exploding  - In most countries, a volcano erupting for months would seem like the end of the world. In Iceland, it's just an opportunity for more tourism. Mount Fagradalsfjall has been spewing out lava since March 19 and is still going. However, rather than hurting the economy, the spectacle has become a major tourist attraction. The Iceland Tourist Board reports that more than 300,000 people have visited so far.
CUTTING EDGE: What's Happening In Tech

  • Pfizer, Moderna Vaccines Show Big Gap In Effectiveness - In the United States, Pfizer/BionNTech SE and Moderna have been the winners of the vaccine race, with most fully vaccinated Americans have taken the shots from Pfizer. Yet new data show a large gap in long-term effectiveness between the two vaccines. The PFE/BNTX vaccine reduces the risk of being hospitalized with COVID-19 by 91% in the first four months after injection, but that falls to just 77% after 120 days. Meanwhile, the MRNA vaccine is 93% effective in the first 120 days and remains 92% effective after 120 days. Pfizer is pushing for a third "booster shot" but the FDA has ruled that these are not yet needed for the general public.

  • Witness: Elizabeth Holmes Was Aware Of Theranos Problems - The trial of Elizabeth Holmes, a onetime media superstar now accused of fraud, is producing riveting testimony. Former Theranos scientist Surekha Gangakhekar testified that Holmes was aware that Theranos's supposed blood tests had major problems but felt she needed to go ahead with the launch anyway. Theranos was once heralded as a innovative company that would transform medicine by detecting disease through minor blood tests. However, the company fell apart when data showed it couldn't back up its claims.

  • SpaceX Civilians Home After Successful Mission - It's one of the most important events in world history and it's surprising that it's gotten so little attention. Four civilians (including a billionaire who paid for his flight) have successfully completed the first orbital flight ever completed by non-astronauts. The SpaceX "Dragon" capsule landed safely in the ocean near Florida and crew members were seen smiling and waving. While an undoubted success, the mission was plagued by some technical problems with its Waste Management System.
