Well, Good Morning!
Let's take a look at what the day has in store for us.
So, let's dig in, shall we?
Here's What You Need To Know... Manhunt begins for 6 prisoners who escaped from high-security Israeli prison The Council of Foreign relations claims to be a political think tank. However, membership is so guarded — and so full of prominent world leaders — you just can't help but wonder what really goes on behind closed doors. The Council's website, however, does host a wealth of information, including an abridged history of the Islamic Jihad in Palestine.
"The Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) is an Islamic, Palestinian nationalist organization that violently opposes the existence of Israel," the Council's post on the subject reads. "Designated as a U.S. State Department terrorist organization in 1997, the PIJ targets Israeli civilian and military personnel in its commitment to the creation of an Islamic regime in 'all of historic Palestine,' according to the State Department's 2006 Country Report on terrorism."
In other words, these prisoners are not necessarily the citizens hiding from bomb blasts — the kind of tragic human suffering plastered all over social media and responsible for the #FreePalestine hashtag. According to the U.S. and Israeli governments, these men are terrorists. Their ingenious escape plan wasn't even original — meaning more could happen in the future. Even more significantly, Palestinian groups' reactions to the escape are decidedly not helping peace efforts between Israel and Palestine. This has heavy consequences for President Biden.
A miraculous story of survival: a three-year-old found after days alone in the woods After a heart-wrenching weekend of worry, a non-verbal toddler with autism was found alive after going missing in Australia. The three-year-old had disappeared in the woods on Friday morning. He was spotted on Monday by police officers scanning the area from a helicopter. He was over 1,540 feet from his family's rural property, drinking water from a creek, authorities said. Other than bug bites, a diaper rash, and minor cuts, he was in good shape.
The boy, named AJ, beat the odds, braving temperatures as cold as 43 degrees Fahrenheit at some points, and finding water to avoid dehydration. The official who found AJ said that the child greeted him with a smile he will never forget. Similarly, a paramedic said that the child appeared grateful.
"It's a miracle," his father said. "He's just clinging to mum. As soon as he heard his mum, he opened his eyes and looked at her and fell asleep."
And this isn't the first time a baby has triumphed alone in the forest recently. Earlier this month, a one-year-old Russian girl managed three nights by herself in a forest. She'd gone missing from her mother's garden, which wasn't fenced in, and the 500-odd people involved in the search and rescue mission had been starting to lose hope when she was finally found, less than three miles away from where she was last seen. A Russian woman who'd recently gone missing, on the other hand, was not so lucky. She is believed to have been attacked and killed by bears.
Attorney shot in the head 3 months after his wife and child were killed "A superficial gunshot wound to the head," the statement from South Carolina Law Enforcement Division said. The bullet luckily did not kill Alex Murdaugh, a prominent South Carolina attorney. For his wife and son, fate was not so kind. In June, Murdagh called 911 to say he had found his wife, Margaret, and 22-year-old son Paul shot dead outside their home.
Even from the outside, with very little context, the notion that someone is out to get Murdagh and his family could not be more clear. Significantly, Paul Murdagh was awaiting trial at the time of his murder. He was charged with one count of boating under the influence (BUI) causing death and two counts of causing great bodily injury in connection with a February 2019 boating accident that killed 19-year-old Mallory Beach.
Paul pleaded not guilty. Before his death, he received threats from strangers online, according to his uncle. No one thought they were credible until the worst had already occurred. His father appears uneager to tempt his enemies any further: Murdaugh announced he was leaving his law firm and entering rehab following a "long battle that has been exacerbated by these murders."
According to authorities, Murdagh was stopped on the side of the road, changing a tire when his brush with death occurred. A vehicle passed him before turning around and shooting him. So far, no suspects have been named in either case. Shortly after Paul and Maggie Murdaugh were killed, state investigators said they found information that led them to reopen the investigation into the suspicious 2015 death of a 19-year-old man named Stephen Smith.
