BREAKING NEWS: Democratic push to extend eviction moratorium fizzles in the House

House Democratic leaders on Friday abandoned their efforts to extend the federal eviction moratorium on Friday before sending lawmakers home for the August recess.

Democrats made a final last-minute attempt to pass the bill by unanimous consent, but the move was objected TO by a GOP lawmaker. The effort fizzled after a multi-day whipping push by Speaker Nancy Pelosi and her leadership team. The fate of the national evictions moratorium, which is set to expire Saturday, is now unclear.
