Red line The World Health Organization rang the alarm early this month that the country was headed toward the feared 'red line,' beyond which COVID-19 cases will exceed the capacity of the healthcare system, such as what is happening in India. The WHO described the dire situation in India, where oxygen supplies, hospital beds, and other medical supplies have run out, as 'beyond heartbreaking.' The Philippines having reached 1 million cases is likewise a heartbreaking watershed moment—and the Has this been forwarded by a friend? Who is lying—the President or Roque? It cannot be denied that President Duterte did in fact enter into a verbal fishing agreement with President Xi allowing Chinese fishermen to fish in Philippine EEZ in the WPS. President Duterte himself affirmed it repeatedly. Presidential spokesperson Roque, however, vigorously denies it. Now, who is telling the truth, and who is telling a lie, to the Filipino people—President Duterte or his spokesperson Roque? Women religious in the trenches redux My unsolicited advice to those with more than enough in these deadly pandemic times: Spend, so that others may earn. If only kids could vote As the next election nears, we ought to think beyond ourselves and be more critical. Our children are watching us, but they are often out of the conversation when we cast our votes and set the political agenda for this nation.
