Donald Trump will not testify in the Senate's upcoming impeachment trial, a spokesman for the former president said, explicitly rejecting a request from House Democrats.
"The president will not testify in an unconstitutional proceeding," Trump spokesman Jason Miller said. Earlier, Trump's lawyers Bruce Castor and David Schoen called the request a "public relations stunt."
Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.), the lead impeachment manager, asked Trump to testify Thursday because his lawyers earlier this week "denied many factual allegations set forth in the article of impeachment."
