Pharmacologic and Nonpharmacologic Treatments for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder - An Update of the PTSD-Repository Evidence Base (Systematic Review, released on November 4, 2020) The purpose of the review is to Identify and abstract data from posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) treatment randomized controlled trials to update the PTSD Trials Standardized Data Repository (PTSD-Repository) with data on PTSD and mental health, including suicide-related outcomes and substance use. Prevention, Diagnosis, and Management of Opioids, Opioid Misuse, and Opioid Use Disorder in Older Adults (Technical Brief, released on November 3, 2020) The purpose of the review is to provide a framework for understanding how to reduce adverse outcomes of opioid use among older adults, and to describe the evidence available for different factors associated with and interventions to reduce adverse outcomes related to opioid use in this population. Roadmap for Narratively Describing Effects of Interventions in Systematic Reviews (White Paper, released on November 5, 2020) This report provides an approach to writing plain language and narrative statements for key systematic review results. It serves two goals: facilitate writing narrative statements and enhance consistency across reviews. The document identifies overlapping constructs that can be used in narrative statements based on the evidence user perspective and context. Testing a Machine Learning Tool for Facilitating Living Systematic Reviews of Chronic Pain Treatments (Research Report, released on November 3, 2020) The purpose of the project is to develop and test text word-only search strategies without MEDLINE® indexing for three chronic pain living reviews, test a machine classifier on studies identified using the text word search strategies, and apply the machine classifier prospectively on a monthly basis to update searches. The Effective Health Care (EHC) Program is interested in receiving supplemental evidence and data (SEADs) for systematic reviews that are relevant to the questions in our evidence reports. To ensure that it has full access to relevant research, whether or not it is published, the EHC Program is interested in receiving SEADs containing detailed study-specific information. Opportunities to submit scientific information are available for: Living Systematic Review on Plant-Based Treatment for Chronic Pain (Available for submission until December 1, 2020) This review will assess the effectiveness and harms of plant-based treatments for chronic pain conditions. Malnutrition in Hospitalized Adults (Available for submission until November 27, 2020) In fiscal year 2020, Congress requested that AHRQ convene a panel of experts charged with developing quality measures for malnutrition-related hospital readmissions. These measures intend to help assign accountability for the assessment and treatment of malnutrition in hospitalized adults, with an emphasis on the needs of older frail adults. The purpose of this systematic review is to support the efforts of the panel by identifying published literature that will help clearly establish the association between malnutrition and clinical outcomes among hospitalized patients, particularly those who may be at greater risk. This review will also evaluate the effectiveness of screening and/or diagnostic assessment of malnutrition on diagnosis, treatment, and clinical outcomes of hospitalized patients. Ultimately, the findings of this review will aid in the development of quality measures that will reduce malnutrition in hospitalized adults and lead to improvements in clinical outcomes. (Section 944 (c) of the Public Health Service Act [42 U.S.C. 299c 3(c)] requires that information collected for research conducted or supported by AHRQ that identifies individuals or establishments be used only for the purpose for which it was supplied unless they consent to the use of the information for another purpose.) About us: AHRQ's Effective Health Care Program is committed to providing the best available evidence on the outcomes, benefits and harms, and appropriateness of drugs, devices, and health care services and by helping health care professionals, patients, policymakers, and health care systems make informed health care decisions. The program partners with research centers, academic institutions, health professional societies, consumer organizations, and other stakeholders to conduct research, evidence synthesis, evidence translation, dissemination, and implementation of research findings.
