FAA administrator will resign on Trump's inauguration day

FAA administrator Mike Whitaker announced he will resign and not serve as the head of the agency in the second Trump administration, two officials with direct knowledge of his plans told POLITICO Thursday.

Whitaker told his staff about his departure plans at a meeting Thursday morning. A second official familiar with Whitaker's plans said Whitaker is expected to stay on through President Donald Trump's inauguration day.
