DIVINE INSPIRATION

Hey all,

Mark here. Here's what we have in store for this week...

WHAT I'M WRITING ABOUT

Many of you have heard about Emotional Intelligence (EI); however, intellectually understanding a concept differs from mastering one. Today, I want to share with you why being emotionally intelligent is a skill set that equips you as a leader to be present with emotions and gives you insight into the emotional state of those around you. As a leader, developing self & social awareness, understanding how to self-regulate,  and effectively managing relationships are foundational for building a thriving organization and culture that will stand out.

Josh Dech, a holistic nutritionist specializing in gut health, transitioned from his early career as a paramedic in rural Newfoundland due to realizing the limitations of reactive medical practices. Inspired to make a more profound impact on health, he ventured into personal training, where he witnessed firsthand the transformative power of holistic wellness. Recognizing the interconnectedness of bodily systems, Josh pursued further education in holistic nutrition, focusing on gut health's pivotal role in overall well-being. Through his holistic approach, Josh emphasizes the importance of understanding the gut's role in digestion, immune function, and mental health.

WHAT'S INSPIRING ME

Recently, I've had the incredible opportunity to catch performances by music icons like Bruce Springsteen, Sting, and Billy Idol. Witnessing their awe-inspiring talent reminded me of the crucial lesson: there is power in repetition and practice.

As they say in martial arts, the masters always stress the importance of sticking to the basics and honing those foundational skills. Whether strumming a guitar or leading a team, consistent practice is crucial in maintaining and improving any skill. Bruce Lee said, "I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 KICKS ONCE, but I fear the man who has practiced ONE KICK 10,000 TIMES."

PRACTICE OR HABIT TO TRY

Saying no can be challenging; however, saying no to the bigger yes is essential. Practice saying no this week when faced with a request that doesn't align with your priorities or capacity. When doing this, it is crucial to be straightforward and brief. Stick to your answer and watch your days align more closely with your current commitments or goals. This exercise helps reinforce boundaries and effectively allocate your time and energy.

That’s all for now! See you next week.

Hooyah!
