This is part of the broader historic investment of $2 billion in ARPA funding. Stopping falls – the deadliest workplace hazard During the 10th annual Safety Stand-Down to Prevent Falls in Construction this week, OSHA launched a new National Emphasis Program to prevent falls across industries. Falls are the leading cause of fatal workplace injuries and the most cited violation in construction industry inspections. Learn more about the National Emphasis Program Join the #StandDown4Safety Employment loss and recovery during the COVID-19 pandemic Mothers lost a lot of jobs at the start of the pandemic, especially compared to fathers. But how are they faring now? A new report highlights the latest stats on maternal employment. $90M to connect young people with high demand careers We've awarded $90 million in grants to 68 organizations in 32 states to support training and employment services that will help young people enter high demand careers. Assets will be distributed to participants harmed by an underfunded group health plan arrangement The independent fiduciary of a multiple employee welfare arrangement must distribute more than $6.75 million in recovered assets to those who suffered harm after the MEWA accumulated more than $54 million in unpaid health claims. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT 🍟 Not loving it We found labor law violations at three separate McDonald's restaurants in the Southeast, including two 10-year-old workers at a Kentucky location. Amazon fails to deliver An ongoing OSHA investigation found Amazon failed to provide adequate medical treatment for injuries at a New York fulfillment center. Elevating care work We're implementing a new executive order and helping build an economy that works for all. Mine safety findings Our Mine Safety and Health Administration found 205 violations – including 52 significant and substantial findings – at 16 mines in 12 states last month. Opioid grants We've awarded $985,474 to help Washington continue employment and training services to combat the state's opioid crisis. Wage theft is illegal We recovered $545,655 for 42 workers after finding a California care provider deliberately denied them overtime and created a second payroll to hide the fraud.
