The team tweeted an update overnight, saying, "Damar Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest following a hit in our game versus the Bengals. Image source: Kent Nishimura / Los Angeles Times via Getty Images | As Rep. Peter Meijer prepares to leave congress, he decided to give fellow Republicans a few words of warning. According to Meijer, he believes the GOP is giving Democrats a "tangible advantage" with voters. Meijer opened up about his warning to Republicans during an interview with Politico. During that interview, he said he was frustrated with his party, and Congress as a whole, for constantly chasing after conspiracy theories. He went on to say that conspiracy theories "lead folks on the right to go down these rabbit holes and chase their own tails," all while important issues are swept under the rug. Here's what else he had to say about that and why he feels it gives Democrats an advantage. (read more)

Rep. Lauren Boebert, R-Colorado, exclaimed "this is bulls—-" Tuesday during a House GOP Conference meeting regarding House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy's bid for speaker. McCarthy, R-Calif., made the remark Tuesday morning during a speech aimed at uniting his party prior to the leadership vote. McCarthy faces opposition for speaker from Boebert, Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., and members of the House Freedom Caucus, who claim he has not proven himself deserving of the new Republican majority's speakership. House Freedom Caucus Chairman Scott Perry of Pennsylvania, who had already indicated he would likely vote against McCarthy, left little room for doubt that he would support another candidate. Perry's statement follows a letter he and eight members of the House Freedom Caucus sent to McCarthy on Sunday, outlining their plan for the structure of party leadership. Tuesday, Perry added that he would support McCarthy if he complies with their demands. (read more)

Florida man is at it again, and this time he lost his temper while trying to steal items from a store. According to the police, a man recently entered a Rainbow clothing store in the Fort Lauderdale area when he decided to try to make his way out of the store with some clothing items he didn't want to pay for. But when he tried to casually slip out of the store, he didn't realize it was past closing time, so the retailer had locked the doors. The man panicked and began kicking the door trying to push it open. He became so enraged that the doors wouldn't open, he slammed his body against the doors several times. Police noted that the man could have simply unlocked the door and walked out with the clothing. But after making a scene, he decided to do this instead. (read more) |
