In Shepherdsville, Kentucky, police were summoned to the scene of what they believed to be a man exposing himself outside a house. However, when they arrived, they discovered it was actually an elaborate Christmas decoration. Shepherdsville's dispatcher described the scene as one of "a male standing outside. He is naked. He has a robe covering part of his body. He is exposing himself and has a hose between his legs." When the police arrived, they did not discover a man in a robe showing off when they arrived. Instead, a mannequin dressed as "Cousin Eddie," the vulgar character from "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation," was discovered. Officers at the scene got a good laugh and took some photos of the display, but were any arrests made? (read more)

Well, Senator Chuck Schumer certainly has something to celebrate, even if he does look like Creed Bratton from The Office. The Senate has passed the not $1.7 trillion but $1.85 trillion omnibus spending bill on Thursday night. It's doubtful that any one of them were able to read all 6,800+ pages. I'm guessing anyone that cared worked together to divide and conquer while making and comparing notes. That's 4,155 pages of legislative text plus an additional 2,670 pages of explanatory materials to instruct agencies on how to carry out the provisions. And did we mention that there are at least 4,000 earmarks attached to the legislation? But I wouldn't be willing to wager that anyone actually went through the trouble. Instead, 18 Republicans joined all of the Democrats to pass the bill 68-29. According to The Daily Signal, "Conservatives called the move during the lame-duck session a "stunning act of betrayal." Democrats have had both branches of Congress and the presidency during all of 2022, conservatives say, but rushed to pass this budget bill only after Republicans won a House majority in November." Who are the 18 Republicans who took part in this ultimate betrayal, and what will this insane spending do to our current rate of inflation? (read more)

Right now, Mitch McConnell, the leader of Senate Republicans, is not a highly liked figure. McConnell's handling of the midterm elections and his readiness to compromise with Democrats on Ukraine spending have angered conservatives. Republican troubles will persist until McConnell leaves office, according to conservative commentator Mollie Hemingway. "Comments Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell made on Tuesday show why he has become the single biggest obstacle to GOP success," Hemingway recently wrote. Many conservatives are sick of feeling like McConnell has betrayed them. (read more)

A mistake that many investors are making today is assuming that things will only get worse and that now is a time to sell stocks. But just as stocks weren't destined to continue soaring last year as meme investments were rising to ridiculous valuations, the sky isn't falling right now either. Trying to time the market might result in missing out on the surge and the chance to purchase equities at considerably lower prices, which can position investors for amazing future returns. If inflation continues to decline and the economy shows indications of stabilization, a bull run could occur the following year. Even if it doesn't, a rally might happen the year after. Here are two stocks for your radar. (read more) |

A holiday display that mimics a scene from the popular National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation movie caused quite the stir recently in Kentucky. One person decided to recreate a scene from the movie on their front lawn that involves the character Cousin Eddie wearing only a robe. Apparently the scene looked incredibly life-like, even though a mannequin was used for Cousin Eddie. A neighbor called 911 to report the holiday display, thinking it was a real-life naked man. The dispatcher who took the call described the scene to officers as "a male standing outside. He is naked. He has a robe covering part of his body. He is exposing himself, and he has a hose between his legs." Here's how officers reacted when they arrived on scene. (read more) |

Fifty-year-old former 911 dispatcher James Bartels from Patriot, Ohio, was charged with arson after he deliberately started 24 fires to "give the boys something to do." Bartels was arrested on Tuesday. He was an administrator at the Greenfield Township Volunteer Fire Department. He claims that he also had depression and was distracting himself with the intentional fires. It is suspected that the first fire he set was in Wayne National Forest in the spring of 2022.
