- A more infectious version of the BA.2 omicron variant is spreading in the western and northeastern US, the latest development in the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. [Washington Post / Joel Achenbach]
- According to estimates from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the BA 2.12.1 variant now makes up about 30 percent of cases in the US and could be roughly 25 percent more transmissible than BA.2.
