Well, Good Morning!
Let's take a look at what the day has in store for us.
So, let's dig in, shall we?
Here's What You Need To Know... Decades after an abusive boarding home closed, women search for stolen children The Bethesda Home for Girls on the outskirts of Hattiesburg, Mississippi claimed to be a Christian institution, but any truly spiritual person would know that it was a lie. Bethesda was run by Baptist preachers who forced girls to memorize Bible chapters and scrub carpets by hand. Staff members beat the girls with wooden boards if they broke a rule.
In the 1970s and '80s, Bethesda forced pregnant girls to give up their newborns for adoption to Christian families who paid a $250 "love gift" to the home, according to an NBC News investigation based on court records and interviews. A former judicial officer recently called the facility a "baby selling factory."
This mom shares the experience of reuniting with her 1-year-old baby after a desperate, 36-hour search This week, Deonna Bray experienced every mother's absolute worst nightmare. She was unloading her SUV on Wednesday when someone stole her car with the baby still inside.. Obviously, she was desperate to locate her 1-year-old and, although police found her car later that day, her son, Blaise, was still missing.
On Thursday, Bray gathered with her loved ones, and, together, they prayed for him to return safely. Within just a couple of hours, he was found alive. Apparently, a woman called the police that day, saying that a child was in her vehicle. The woman brought the child inside, and, when the police arrived, they made sure the baby was in good health, a sergeant said.
"It was like, I instantly started crying," she said. "A rush of happiness. I was speechless. He was like, 'we got him,' and I was like, 'you got him?' And everybody was just like screaming. I started crying. I just knew, now I know my baby is safe."
This isn't the first recent instance of a thief driving away in a stolen car while a baby was still inside. On Thursday, two women drove off in a car they stole from a daycare center parking lot, and a 7-month-old boy was still inside. The boy's parents had apparently been dropping off their 2-year-old child when the incident occurred.
This man buried his wife and misled authorities for a year. Now he's been convicted of murdering her In October of last year, 28-year-old Mengqi Ji was reported missing by her husband, Joseph Elledge. The two had met while working at the same company and married in 2017, sharing a young daughter and — for all intents and purposes — looking like a happy, young, successful couple.
But under that image, the Elledge-Ji marriage was fraught with tension. According to evidence presented by prosecutors — including Elledge's own journal — arguments between husband and wife often centered around cultural differences. That alone would be understandable, except when Elledge veered into criticism of Ji's appearance and said things like, "I know you want me to hit you" to his wife.
According to Elledge, the arguments eventually culminated in an incident where the couple pushed each other, with Ji falling and hitting her head. She was allegedly alive when Elledge saw her before going to bed; when he awoke in the morning, she was dead, laying in the bed next to him.
What happened next is mystifying. Knowing he would be the prime suspect, Elledge didn't call the police — instead, he stuffed his wife's body into the trunk of her car and lied to family and friends about her whereabouts. Later, he would drive the body to the state park where he proposed to her with their young daughter in the car.
Then he buried her and left her there. Only then did he report her missing.
You might not agree with the conviction the jury ultimately settled on.
