Well, Good Morning!
Let's take a look at what the day has in store for us.
So, let's dig in, shall we?
Here's What You Need To Know... Heartbroken Houston horror house grandma speaks out after child's death A Houston mother and her boyfriend have been charged after authorities found three young siblings abandoned in a home along with the decaying body of their brother. In a news release, the sheriff's office said the 15-year-old called authorities and said his 8-year-old brother has been dead for a year and that his body was in the room next to his. The teen said his parents had not lived in the apartment for several months.
The 8-year-old's cause of death has been ruled "homicidal violence with multiple blunt force injuries," according to the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. He is believed to have died around Thanksgiving of last year.
Linda Smith, the grandmother of one of the children, says she should have adopted the boy before the abuse started. "I wish I would have known how bad of a situation those kids were in; I would have adopted all of the kids," she said. Her daughter and grandchildren had lived with her for some time before Smith asked her daughter to leave, saying, "I didn't want her bringing different men into the house."
When we'll likely hear more about Brian Laundrie's autopsy results from the forensic anthropologist Fugitive Brian Laundrie's remains were found in a Florida park earlier this month, but it will still be two to three weeks before we know more about his cause of death, his family's attorney says. After the medical examiner determined the results of his autopsy were inconclusive, they were sent to a forensic anthropologist for further analysis. However, the timetable for when answers may arrive remains uncertain. In addition to Laundrie's physical remains, officials also found a notebook that they noted "may be salvageable."
However, at least for Gabby Petito's father, the details of that journal are largely irrelevant, and he doesn't anticipate gaining any closure from reading whatever is contained within those pages. He said, aside from "his own selfish gratification," there is no other reason to read Laundrie's pages. They won't mitigate his grief, or illuminate how the tragedy could have been avoided, he said. Similarly, he doesn't believe the item will bring any relief for Laundrie's parents, either.
Meanwhile, in Florida, the cops are brushing off the fact that they mistakenly identified Brian Laundrie's mother, Roberta, as Brian. A spokesperson for the local police department went so far as to say that "there is a very good possibility" that Laundrie had already been dead by the time this mishap occurred.
"This misidentification did not have a big impact on costs and the investigation," the spokesperson said. "Other than confusion, it likely changed nothing… He still needed to be found. We just wanted people to better understand why we thought we knew Brian was in his home."
NY State Trooper charged with murder in ramming pursuit that killed 11-year-old An 11-year-old New York girl died when her father fled a New York State Police traffic stop in their SUV. The New York State Trooper who initiated the stop gave chase; the SUV and trooper vehicle ended up colliding, flipping the SUV. Monica Goods died at the scene; her father was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Monica's 12-year-old sister was also seriously injured.
Goods' father was driving his wife and two daughters to visit relatives when the trooper stopped him on I-87 for speeding in the town of Ulster, about 95 miles north of New York City. State police have said the father fled shortly after the traffic stop, resulting in a chase. Baldner allegedly struck the Goods' SUV from behind before it hit a guardrail and flipped.
Gov. Kathy Hochul had said last week that Baldner could face charges in Goods' death and in previous ramming incidents as well. Five of the eight counts against him relate to Goods' death and the remaining three are tied to an alleged ramming from Sept. 2019.
"Police officers are entrusted to protect and serve, but Trooper Baldner allegedly violated that trust when he used his car as a deadly weapon and killed a young girl," Attorney General Letitia James said in a statement. But the New York State Troopers Police Benevolent Association, while offering condolences to Goods' family, said the case was not so simple.
