Well, Good Morning!
Let's take a look at what the day has in store for us.
So, let's dig in, shall we?
Here's What You Need To Know... California wildfires worsen amid "critical" danger across the West The National Weather Service on Tuesday declared red flag warnings over a vast stretch of the West, including California, Nevada and Montana, prompted by projected strong winds, high temperatures and drought conditions. In Northern California, where fuel moisture and flammability are especially conducive to extreme wildfire behavior, multiple communities were ordered to evacuate on Monday night and Tuesday because of the rapidly growing Caldor Fire in El Dorado County.
The Caldor blaze ignited Sunday and grew to around 6,500 acres Monday. It is currently 0% contained and is threatening at least 2,100 structures, according to the U.S. Forest Service's El Dorado division. 242 firefighters have responded to the fire, and extreme fire behavior and structure loss were observed overnight Monday.
Western states are in the grip of a prolonged, severe drought exacerbated by human-caused climate change that has exacerbated wildfire activity in recent years. Eight of the 10 largest fires in California's history have occurred in the past five years, according to CalFire. Studies show human-caused climate change is driving an increase in the likelihood and severity of heat waves and droughts, while also leading to bigger, more intense wildfires.
Chris Cuomo finally breaks his silence on his brother's scandal on CNN Chris Cuomo, of CNN, is done talking about his brother. He said earlier this week that he doesn't plan to discuss Andrew Cuomo's sex scandal again. Chris had previously come under fire for helping Andrew navigate the fallout of the harassment claims against him. Back in May, his network described his behavior as "inappropriate." Officials said: "He will not participate in such conversations going forward."
When the state attorney general released her 165-page report detailing the various women Andrew had harassed, she also mentioned how Chris had jumped in to help his brother. One columnist described Cuomo as placing "brotherly love ahead of journalistic propriety." Chris has admitted, too, that it wasn't in integrity for him to have participated in such a capacity, and that he did not do so again. He claims that he "tried to do the right thing."
"It's never been easy to be in this business coming from a political family, especially now," he said. "I never covered my brother's troubles because I obviously have a conflict and there are rules at CNN about that. I'm not an adviser. I'm a brother. I wasn't in control of anything. I was there to listen and offer my take. And my advice to my brother was simple and consistent: Own what you did. Tell people what you'll do to be better. Be contrite. And finally, accept that it doesn't matter what you intended. What matters is how your actions and words were perceived."
Taliban vow to honor women's rights, but within "cultural frameworks" Malala Yousafzai was 15 years old when a Taliban gunman shot her in the head while opening fire on a school bus. It was a direct attack against Yousafzai for her activism, which began when she was 11 years old. It has not been so very long since she took the world by storm. She is only 24.
Afghan women and girls are terrified that the rights they have scrounged up over the last 20 years are disappearing with the last American jets. The Taliban are claiming to have changed. In the 1990s, women's freedoms were severely restricted, other human rights were limited, and executions were carried out in public. Actually, executions are still carried out in public.
A Taliban spokesman denied that the group was executing prisoners. Keep in mind that there is literal videographic evidence to contradict this claim. The Taliban has also denied allegations that its militants have demanded conquered territories provide them with females aged 15 and older as brides. They dismissed every human rights violation stacked against the group as "baseless".
