I. SLASH FOOTPRINT THIS EARTH MONTHJoin us on Instagram for the Earth Month Carbon Challenge! Starting today, we're holding five weekly challenges focused on reducing our carbon footprints. Each week, we'll share examples of how you can take meaningful action to live more sustainably. Comment and tag friends to be entered to win one of 3 seats in next month's Carbonauts in Training mission! Here's a taste… How to Get Renewable Energy at Home: 1. GREEN POWER PROGRAM. Find out if your utility provider offers a green power program and sign up for it. This is available almost everywhere, typically costs a couple of cents per KWH and takes 10 minutes to sign up. Easy and impactful! 2. COMMUNITY SOLAR. Find out if community solar is available to you and sign up for it. This works even if you rent! And our understanding is that your bill is likely to immediately go down…what's not to like? 3. ROOFTOP SOLAR. Look into rooftop solar for your house. Rooftop solar is generally a great investment and often you can get a no-money-down loan and have lower bills immediately. Plus, once it's paid off (~4-8 years) you'll have free electricity for decades! 4. RENEWABLE ENERGY CREDITS. Purchase RECs to offset emission from your home energy use. This is a good renter option, takes 2 minutes and can zero out your utility emissions. |
