NIMHD-Funded Study Reveals Disparities in Lifetime Risks of Death

Ambulance

Almost 150,000 deaths in the United States in 2018 were caused by a firearm, drug overdose, or motor vehicle accident. A researcher at Case Western Reserve University's Center for Reducing Health Disparities has shown that race/ethnicity, sex, and state of residence affect a person's risk of these premature and largely preventable deaths. Dr. Sehgal shares ways that health care providers and researchers can help reduce the lifetime risks of these three causes of death.
