Here's the Scoop...

The animated movie Soul, with a voice cast led by Oscar-winning actor Jamie Foxx, is set to premiere on Disney+ on Dec. 25, the streaming service announced Thursday.

Foxx plays Joe Gardner, an aspiring jazz musician and middle school band teacher whose soul is separated from his body right before his big break.

Joe receives help from a fellow soul named 22, voiced by Tina Fey, as he desperately attempts to return to his body.

The voice cast also includes Questlove, Daveed Diggs and Phylicia Rashad.

Pete Docter and Kemp Powers directed the film.

Soul was initially set to open in theaters in June, but that date was postponed until November because of the coronavirus pandemic.

News that the film would bypass a theatrical release in favor of a streaming debut was announced after several other movies' releases -- including No Time to Die, West Side Story and Dune -- were delayed until next year.

It also comes after CineWorld said it would close indefinitely hundreds of cinemas in Britain and United States due to a lack of new content from studios that might lure moviegoers back to theaters.

Be Well,
Steve

Musicians mourn Eddie Van Halen: 'He was an absolute legend'

Musicians have taken to social media to mourn the death of guitarist Eddie Van Halen of the band Van Halen.

Eddie Van Halen died at the age of 65 on Tuesday following a battle with cancer, his son Wolf Van Halen confirmed on Twitter.

"I can't believe I'm having to write this, but my father, Edward Lodewijk Van Halen, has lost his long and arduous battle with cancer this morning. He was the best father I could ever ask for. Every moment I've shared with him on and off the stage was a gift," Wolf Van Halen said.

Valerie Bertinelli, who shares Wolf Van Halen with Eddie Van Halen and was married to the rocker from 1981 to 2007, commented with 20 broken heart emojis under her son's post.

"Forty years ago my life changed forever when I met you. You gave me the one true light in my life, our son, Wolfgang. Through all your challenging treatments for lung cancer, you kept your gorgeous spirit and that impish grin. I'm so grateful Wolfie and I were able to hold you in your last moments. I will see you in our next life my love," Bertinelli said on Twitter alongside a family photo.

Van Halen singer David Lee Roth posted a black and white image of himself backstage with Eddie Van Halen on Instagram.

"What a Long Great Trip It's Been," Roth captioned the image.

"@EddieVanHalen was one of the nicest guys I ever worked with and we shared so many laughs together. His influence on music and especially the guitar has been immeasurable. He was an absolute legend. Eddie, I'll see you on the other side, my friend, Love, Ozzy," Ozzy Osbourne said on Twitter.

"He wasn't just a guitar god to millions of people, but Eddie was a gentle soul," Gene Simmons, of KISS, said in a video message posted to Twitter.

"He changed the course of guitar whammy bar rock & rhyme...A game changer...And his melodic crazy was over the top...We'll miss you Eddie...Love from above," Steven Tyler, of Aerosmith, said on Twitter alongside a photo of himself with Eddie Van Halen.

"RIP to my friend and man who changed guitar playing forever. [Expletive] no words," Tommy Lee, of Mitley Crue, said on Instagram alongside photos of himself with Eddie Van Halen.

"This goes beyond the passing of a great guitarist, but rather is a tremendous loss of a great man who truly helped to change my life and path with his guitar and sound. He helped forge the way for myself and many and will be deeply missed. Rest in peace, Eddie," Bret Michaels, of Poison, said on Twitter alongside a photo of Eddie Van Halen.

"An amazing talent and a gentle, lovely man," Elton John said on Instagram alongside a photo of himself with Eddie Van Halen.

'Jurassic World: Dominion' delayed to 2022

Closeout ClearUniversal's Jurassic World: Dominion has been delayed to June 10, 2022, director Colin Trevorrow announced on Twitter.

The film, which acts as the third entry in the Jurassic World trilogy starring Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, was set to hit theaters on June 11, 2021.

"For the past three months, I've worked with an extraordinary cast and crew on a film we can't wait to share with the world. Even though we'll have to wait a bit longer, it will all be worth it. Let's stay healthy and take care of each other until then," Trevorrow said on Tuesday alongside a new poster for Jurassic World: Dominion.

The new poster features the franchise's signature logo placed inside amber, a reference to the original Jurassic Park film from 1993.

Production on Jurassic World: Dominion was shut down in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Production was then restarted in the summer in the United Kingdom.

Jurassic Park stars Jeff Goldblum, Laura Dern and Sam Neil will star in Jurassic World: Dominion alongside Pratt and Howard.

Jerry Seinfeld says pandemic is like planet 'getting detention'

Jerry Seinfeld discussed performing stand-up comedy, his new book and the COVID-19 pandemic while appearing on The Late Show.

The comedian, on Tuesday, explained to host Stephen Colbert how the pandemic is a unique experience that won't be understandable to those who haven't lived through it, comparing it to how kids would ask their parents about World War II.

"It's really like the whole planet getting detention. And when you get out of detention, you're really going to see things a little differently. Hopefully you're going to learn to appreciate a little better. That's what we have to do but we probably won't" Seinfeld said.

Seinfeld has recently released a new book entitled Is This Anything? that features some of his favorite stand-up material and gives insights into writing stand-up comedy.

"Is this anything is what you say before you try a bit out on another comedian. I've been saying that my whole life," Seinfeld said about the book's title.

"This book is everything I've done with my life, that's my whole life in a book," he continued.

Seinfeld, when asked if he still enjoys stand-up, compared himself to an old surfer.

"I think I'm one of those surfers, you know those old guys that just still paddle out every day and nobody even knows they're doing it. But it's like they have to do it and it's just part of the day and part of the deal," he said.

"That's why I do it. I really live off it. It's a beautiful, natural, energetic thing," Seinfeld continued.

Singer-songwriter Johnny Nash known best for his 1970s hit "I Can See Clearly Now" has died, according to his son. He was 80.

His son, John Nash, told CNN and TMZ that the American pop musician died Tuesday of natural causes at his home in Houston.

The Houston, Texas, native, born Aug. 19, 1940, began his pop music career in the 1950s, reaching the height of fame in 1972 with "I Can See Clearly Now," which hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart that November, according to Billboard's website.

The singer traveled to Jamaica in 1968 and while there he was introduced to Bob Marley's band, The Wailers, and he signed Marley, Bunny Wailer and Peter Tosh to exclusive recording contracts with his JAD music label though none of the songs they produced together were successful, his website said.
