Approved bill a new victory for seniors
The House of Representatives has passed on third and final reading a bill promoting job creation for senior citizens and sparing them from government fees if they're seeking employment. The measure also identifies a range of jobs for seniors and offers tax perks to companies that are willing to hire them. House Bill No. 10985 received 173 "yes" votes in plenary on Tuesday.

Typhoon-hit Aurora under calamity state
Aurora has been placed under a state of calamity due to damage from last week's successive storms. The provincial board said infrastructure and agriculture losses from Severe Tropical Storm "Nika" (Toraji) and Typhoon "Ofel" (Usagi) reached more than P410 million in Aurora. Losses from Supertyphoon "Pepito" (Man-yi), which made landfall on Sunday, have yet to be as- sessed.
