🖐Don’t Worry Too Much About Oil’s Rise

Good morning. Oil prices have jumped higher in recent days, closing in on $90 per barrel. That's...
It's the monthly jobs numbers today and they're not going to be pretty and will be possibly the tip of the iceberg as we head into May.

Good morning. Oil prices have jumped higher in recent days, closing in on $90 per barrel. That's partly due to strong demand from the summer driving season. And it also reflects the reduced supply from OPEC countries and Russia.

Some see oil trending to $100 or higher in the coming months. Goldman Sachs has predicted a rise to $107 per barrel. However, energy use is ultimately reflected by the economy. And with a slowing global economy, particularly in China, it's likely that energy demand will slow in the months ahead.

Investors interested in energy may want to hold off following this recent rise unless it's in high-yielding energy stocks that have less volatility than more speculative plays. A small pullback in oil in the weeks ahead could make for a better entry point for more growth-oriented companies.

Embrace Old-School Companies Playing to Today's Tech Trends
Most investors playing a tech trend tend to look for the companies that most directly play to that trend. For tech stocks, that may mean owning chip companies or software companies.

However, a powerful trend can impact multiple industries. And investing in industries implementing new technologies before they see a benefit can lead to great returns. The trick is to look at the adoption of these disruptive technologies when the market is still focused elsewhere.
