Metro households face daily water supply cut


MANILA, Philippines — Starting Wednesday, more than half a million households within the concession area of water distributor Maynilad Water Services Inc. will have to endure service interruptions of as long as 11 hours as the water level of Angat Dam continues to drop amid the El NiƱo weather phenomenon.

French Embassy recalls arbitral ruling


France has reaffirmed its support for the 2016 arbitral ruling upholding the Philippines' exclusive economic zone. Its embassy in Manila also expressed concern over developments in the South China Sea last week—including the reported swarming of some 50 Chinese vessels near Recto (Reed) Bank and the "dangerous maneuvers" conducted by a China Coast Guard ship blocking a Philippine Coast Guard vessel.

Kyiv given shortcut to Nato, says official


KYIV—Ukraine said Nato had decided to drop a requirement for Kyiv to follow a Membership Action Plan that sets out targets to be met before a country could join the military alliance. Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said the move would shorten Ukraine's path to Nato. Leaders of the alliance are meeting in the Lithuanian capital Vilnius to overcome divisions over Ukraine's drive for membership.

Victory worth a nation's love​​


Even as he adopts a balancing act to promote economic ties with China, Mr. Marcos' unequivocal statement that his government will not yield an inch of Philippine territory in the West Philippine Sea needs to be sustained, pushed, and matched with action as many times as there are Chinese incursions in our territory. It is indeed laudable that the Philippine navy, coast guard, and military have decided to be vocal and outspoken about China's aggressive moves, something they were unable to do under the Duterte administration.​
