A Georgia mayor was arrested and charged with burglary and criminal trespassing on Saturday, which made it possible for one of the five members of the city council who had sued the mayor this year to temporarily take his place. The mayor of South Fulton in metro Atlanta, Khalid Kamau, was accused with first-degree burglary and criminal trespassing. On the same day, he was freed after posting bail bonds for $11,000. The police department forwarded a request for more information to the city's public affairs director, who declined to provide details Sunday, citing an "ongoing investigation. "The City of South Fulton is committed to upholding the law and ensuring that all individuals, regardless of their position, are subject to the same fair and just treatment," said Jacqueline Howell, the interim director of public affairs. Republican 2024 presidential candidate Chris Christie criticized former President Donald Trump's White House bid as an attempt to "undo" his failure in 2020, and reaffirmed his support for FBI Director Christopher Wray. Christie claimed last month on CNN that if elected president, he would keep Wray in his cabinet and that he had suggested Wray to Trump as FBI director in 2017. After checking in for what was supposed to be a one night stay, a man ended up staying at a luxurious five-star hotel for a whopping 603 days. As you can imagine, he racked up quite the bill. The hotel where the man stayed said his bill ended up totaling more than $70,000. But what's even more mind boggling is the man didn't pay a single penny for staying in the hotel for so long. And in yet another twist, the hotel didn't catch the non-payment until two years later when officials conducted an unrelated records check of the business. But how did someone check in for one night, stay for 603 days and escape payment for two years post-check out? Here's what we know so far, and this is what hotel officials are trying to do about the entire situation now. (read more) |
