  • Save the date for the webinar "Launching a Career in Health Disparities Research—An NCCIH Perspective," to be held on June 7, 2023, from 3 to 4:30 p.m. ET. This event, sponsored by the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH), will highlight three NCCIH-funded early career investigators engaged in health disparities research on HIV populations. The investigators will provide an overview of their research and will participate in a guided discussion about their career paths, including the challenges of conducting research to address health disparities.
  • NCCIH has a funding opportunity (RFA-AT-24-001) for a research network to promote multidisciplinary mechanistic and translational studies of sickle cell disease pain.
  • The National Institutes of Health (NIH) Research With Activities Related to Diversity (ReWARD) program (PAR-23-122) will support health-related research by scientists who are making a significant contribution to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) and have no current NIH research grant funding. NCCIH is participating in this R01 funding opportunity. The first application due dates are June 5, 2023, for new applications and July 5, 2023, for renewal, resubmission, or revision applications.
  • Current NCCIH-funded T32 training grant programs may apply for an administrative supplement to support an additional training slot for candidates from diverse backgrounds, including those from groups underrepresented in the biomedical, clinical, behavioral, and social sciences. The next application deadline is July 3, 2023.
  • The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute is hosting the "NIH IMPROVE Innovative Approaches To Improve Maternal Health Workshop" on May 8 and 9, 2023. The goal of this workshop is to connect the research community with small businesses that are developing new approaches to improve maternal morbidity and mortality and their associated health disparities. This hybrid event is free and open to the public. Register by April 24 to attend in person or by May 5 to attend virtually. NCCIH is co-sponsoring this workshop.
