In a move that some found divisive and even racist, the NFL kicked off the Super Bowl by performing a song that has been dubbed the black national anthem. "Lift Every Voice and Sing" was performed by Sheryl Lee Ralph and was first adopted by the NAACP in 1917. While this is the third consecutive Super Bowl game where the anthem has been played, it's the first time it was performed live. At a time when America needs to unite, the performance left many feeling the divisions we face are insurmountable. Plus, there were concerns that other races in America which don't fall into the black or white category could have felt that they were left without a voice. (read more) |

The FBI, under Chris Wray's leadership, circulated a memo warning agents about the dangerous "radical traditionalist Catholic ideology" that was gaining popularity in the United States. Former FBI agent Kyle Seraphin posted the memorandum on his website, UncoverDC.com. Last year, Seraphin came forward as a whistleblower, alleging that the FBI is trying to conceal how many man-hours they used on the January 6th investigation, and as a result, she was suspended from the FBI indefinitely without pay. Seraphin spent six years in the FBI's Richmond field office. On Thursday, the FBI confirmed the document's authenticity and admitted that it had circulated this memo among agents. (read more) |

An Australian woman had a terrible night. To the point where she became trapped inside a trash can. Although many of us have misplaced our phones after a night on the town, a much smaller percentage of the population has actually dropped their device into a trash can and then become trapped inside. Thirty-three-year-old Blair Watts was a former friend and business partner of Pennsylvania mother, Jennifer Brown. Now he's been arrested on charges for first-degree murder, third-degree murder, and theft by unlawful taking/disposition and access device fraud. Brown was last seen on January 3, and was reported missing by Watts the very next day. Her body was discovered on January 18 partially buried in a field. "For 37 days since this devoted mother was reported missing, detectives have been accumulating evidence, piece by piece, bringing into focus what happened to Jennifer and who murdered her. That picture shows Blair Watts murdered Jennifer Brown on Jan. 3rd, then moved her body and ultimately buried her in a shallow grave. He is now behind bars at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility," said DA Kevin R. Steele.
